Speaking of private equity, check out the new superyacht bought by Tom Perkins of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Its called the Maltese Falcon. I guess Tom is a Bogart fan.
It cost a paltry $130 million to be custom built in the shipyards of Turkey (Italy’s 35 hour work week would have meant Tom Perkins would have had to wait too long to enjoy his new toy).
It is the most sophisticated and advanced yacht ever built. If you notice, it is actually a sailboat with 3 massive masts. They are so high that if the Maltese Falcon were to sail in New York harbor, they would almost reach the tablet in the arm of Lady Liberty.
