Regarding the put/call ratio: perhaps more retail traders are using inverse ETFs or futures today than they use to. I've had a handful of friends ask me about ETFs, people that have had nothing but long-only mutual funds up until now. I think that's an interesting sign.

Babak
About the low Put/Call ratio you are puzzling about, the answer could be very simple: puts are too expensive now, according to VIX number. So those investors in panic mode are simply selling stocks instead of buying puts to protect their portfolio.
